Who should take TCPS 2: CORE?
All researchers who intend to engage in research with human participants.
The tutorial is also useful for REB members and REB administrators.
How do I access TCPS 2: CORE?
From the Welcome Page, click on the Log-In link. On this page you can click on the registration link. Fill in the required fields and register. A confirmation email will be sent to the email address that you provide.
If you are a member of a research institution that has made this tutorial a requirement (e.g. course credit, prerequisite for thesis approval or REB review, etc.), you must ensure that you use your institution-specific email in your account set-up. You must also identify your institution. If your institution does not appear in the drop-down list, you may enter it in manually after selecting ‘other’. This information is necessary for your institution to verify that you have completed CORE. Your completion certificate alone is not sufficient.
If you are accessing this page from an institution website, note that this is not part of your institution website. TCPS 2: CORE is administered by the Panel on Research Ethics (PRE). Your institution-specific user identification will not work on the CORE Log-In page.
Activating Your Account.
When you complete the registration page, an activation email is automatically sent to the email address you entered. If you do not see it in your inbox, please check your spam or junk mail folder.
Click on the activation link only once to activate your account or copy and paste the complete activation url supplied into the url window of your browser (see Account activation issues if you experience any difficulties).
Once your account is activated you can proceed to the log in page and begin the tutorial.
What do I need to access the audio and video excerpts of TCPS 2: CORE?

How long will it take to complete CORE?
The entire course takes an average of 3 hours depending on how many examples and activities you explore.
Once I begin, is there a time limit by which I have to finish the course?
You can go through the modules at your own pace (your progress points are automatically saved) logging out and logging in again to resume your session. How long you take to complete the course is up to you.
What happens if I don't finish the course?
You will not receive a certificate of completion.
How can my institution verify my completion of TCPS 2: CORE?
An institution can only verify your completion of TCPS 2: CORE if:

If they still cannot see your profile, ask them to send a help request to the TCPS 2: CORE system administrator to resolve the issue.
